From the RNC

Wednesday, Sept 04:
Let’s see where do we begin with this one and none of the major speakers have uttered a word yet. I have heard that democrats are one issue voters??? Since I was in high school in the early to mid 1980’s, it was always a republican base that voted on one issue. If you were an avid gun rights activist or pro-life supporter. Not even 8pm central time and at least 20 times or more have I heard these two issues brought up.
I am a Pro-life democrat and the reason the republicans find themselves 12 points back in the polls today is for the simple reason that they think character is why people vote. Maybe that is true with republicans but I tend to vote on issues. Guns and abortion are not very high on my list of priorities. Meg Whitman is speaking now and I am wondering why I use Ebay so much???
After watching the DNC and now into the third day of the RNC it is clear why independents are flocking into Senator Obama’s favor over the last few days in recent polls. Listening over and over from every republican that speaks it gets incredibly old to hear them say its the republican party that is country first, looking out for citizens, moral fiber, blah, blah, blah… The Stepford Wives are are getting less and less palatable.
It was about ten years ago and I was in a catholic church in Zumbrota, MN for a wedding and was perusing the pamphlets in the entry. Then there was one that caught my eye and specifically said – you vote for a pro-life candidate or go to hell.

I think since then I have voted for one republican, Tim Pawlenty, as I told everyone that the person who gets my Twins a stadium and keeps them in Minnesota gets my vote. Speaking of which, the republicans are making my stomach uneasy so the channel has been switched to my audible and visual ibuprofen – The Twins vs. The Blue Jays. Twins are down 2-0…

8:15 – Turned back to see the shananagins and hear Mitt Romney blame the democrats for the economy for the last 8 years….ummmmmmmm – Back to the Twins. Two errors by the Twins in the 7th have tied it up at 3-3. Joe Mauer had given the Twins a brief lead in the top of the 7th with a 3 run double.
Back to Romney – Scare, Scare, Scare – I am so scared of radical Jihad! Wait for it…Sept. 11th. Talk about beating a dead horse. I would like to take all the republicans at the Xcel and spread them out into our “country first” into communities like Gary, South side of Chicago, East LA, D.C., North Mpls, Detroit, and others from dark till dawn and see where they are more scared. Here or oversees! 30,000 murders plus every year by handguns alone in the U.S. Spend some time in our “country first” and quit spending overseas…

8:40 Twins game is still tied in the bottom of the 8th. Switched to Huckabee – More of the same. Religion, Pro-Life, Scare, and how republicans are the “right” ones and for the rest of us… if they thought their convention was about trying to help sway voters – they need better speech writers. Nothing but a turn off with every minute of showing. Can’t wait for Larry King Live. Back to the Twins for the 9th…

9:08 – Another error by the Twins and the Blue Jays tie it in the 9th at 4-4. Giuliana now – more about the liberal media, more about terror, John McCain the true American Hero (Again-The republicans tore down John Kerry’s serivce and his purple hearts as not a hero), Going back to Reagan and not a word by the 3rd speaker in a row of President George Bush. More of the Same. Back to the Twins…

9:33 – Still 4-4 in the 11th. Giuliana finally done – Last 5 minutes of speech was all about if you are not republican…you are not american (in a nutshell – this country is the way it is because of republican values only). PUKE!!!

9:34 – Sarah Palin at the Podium, Twins lost in the 11th. As she speaks her lips are full and her classic librarian look have me wondering what lies behind that…Oooops – that’s probably what the 90 year old shown wearing the pin “I’m voting for the hot chic” was thinking. Good speech. Best of the week so far. I didn’t even turn to watch a re-run of Scrubs. I didn’t agree with all she said but her tone was more what the democrats had done at their convention. Although there was a hint of the fear factor like in every republican speech, it wasn’t all about instilling fear! If she was running for office instead of the Maverick who voted with Bush 90% of the time…I would think about voting like the old geiser – voting for the hot chic! Nahhhhhhhhhh. But it was a good speech and delivered well. A little smug and like Garth and Wayne like to say – GAME ON!
